Book Review: Stories for Work by Gabrielle Dolan

Business Book Club: January 2021 📚 Stories for Work: The essential guide to business storytelling✏️ Gabrielle Dolan📅 2017🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Got a lot out of this book and really enjoyed it! Reminded me that we all have stories and we can re-purpose them and harness them to ensure we explain ideas with more impact. Also now keeps my ears ready for stories as they happen.

I do think you need to dedicate time and energy to preparing and writing stories, so it can be useful to have a particular presentation in mind to help focus your story time more usefully towards an outcome.

In my first attempt to use stories in a published article, I just “used a story” and didn’t follow the definitive structure set out in the book. But hey, at least it’s a start.

In general, I think this book is great for anyone who wants to try and communicate more effectively and understand why your messages aren’t getting across as much as you’d like them to!

If you haven’t read the book yet, you can get a free sample chapter from Gabrielle’s website….Stories for Work by Gabrielle Dolan

AND… Gabrielle has just launched a new book, Magnetic Stories, all about Brand Storytelling (which you can also download as a free chapter sampler)

What next?

My next steps will be to re-listen to the book and sketch out my key stories using this template that I made up.
